It has been two years since I decided to remove myself from the political scene in Mount Rainier, MD, Prince George's County, and the State of Maryland. Holding the lofty position of Mayor was such a great honor, but as the years flew by, I realized that it was time to do something else -- get a life.! I did, and still continue to provide resources to the residents through The Front Porch Ministries (TFPM). Real people pass through The Front Porch Ministries weekly. LIFE is good.

MD League of Conversation Voters Endorses Michael Summers for State Delegate

Hello Mount Rainier friends,

As many of you know I work at the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, where we are focused on electing conservation minded candidates. As of the 2014 election our district, the 47th, has split into 47A and 47B. Mount Rainier is located in 47A and we will elect two delegates and one senator to represent us in the General Assembly.

Only one incumbent delegate is returning in 47A, Michael Summers, and he has an 88% lifetime environmental score and has been endorsed for re-election by MD LCV. Delegate Summers has served as the lead sponsor on one of my bills and I can say that he fought long and well with us, and was a great legislative partner.

MD LCV is hosting a Mount Rainier open house to meet Delegate Summers this Sunday, April 27, 4-6pm, at 3215 Perry Street. Please drop in for some or all of the event to meet Delegate Summers and hear his vision for environmental issues over the next four years in the General Assembly. There is no cost to attend the event.

As a long-time resident of Mount Rainier and a homeowner, it is important to me that municipal government be inclusive of all of its residents. It is equally important that information be communicated through all possible channel so that residents can get involved. It is also important for residents to volunteer and serve on committees, commissions, boards and task forces. I truly believe that municipal government is the government closes to the people, and as such should be easily accessible. This BLOG is another effort to reach out to the residents of Mount Rainier.
