Good morning, afternoon, where ever you are! This is my
first outreach about the upcoming holiday season. As many of you know, I do the
baskets of food for those most needed in our neighborhood. Families are
selected by the two schools (Mount Rainier Elementary and Thomas Stone
Elementary), and those identified by neighbors in the community. Last year, we
identified 55 families that had would have had less than a perfect Thanksgiving
or Christmas without the help of you and many others.
I am starting EARLY this year. I am asking each of you to
PLEASE donate can goods (pumpkin, green beans, cranberry sauce, corn, mixed
vegetables, asparagus, gravy etc), non-perishables (rice, flour, corn meal,
bread stuffing, macaroni noodles, etc.), turkeys, hams, chicks, roast or
whatever you can.
Suggestion: If you are going to provide can goods, please
provide five cans of each item, e.g., five cans of corn, five cans of green
beans.
Suggestion: If you are going to deliver dry goods, please
provide store purchased and sealed items -- repacked items.
Always think -- a family of four when you are buying that
will help guide your purchase, and help when I am packaging for the families.
WHEN: Non-perishables and can goods can be dropped off
any time starting now.
WHEN: Perishables on November 22 and 23, 2016
WHEN: GIFT CARDS may be dropped off anytime.
WHERE: 4517 30th Street, Mount Rainier, MD 20712 --
Please place in the big box or on the table. Items will be collected each day
and bagged. PLEASE leave your name and contact information so that a thank you
can be sent.
Any items left over from the November drive will be used
during the Christmas drive.
Volunteers are needed to help separate and bag items and
help with deliveries.
Names are coming in already, so if you are supporting
this effort this year, PLEASE inbox or email me at mayormiles@gmail.com. I
welcome the help.
A great weekend to you!
