Signs
of Illness
The Prince George’s Office of Emergency Management
recommends these CDC Guidelines for extreme heat:
Signs of Heat Exhaustion include heavy
sweating, weakness, cold/pale/clammy skin, fast/weak pulse, nausea or vomiting,
and fainting. If you experience these symptoms, move to a cooler location, lie
down and loosen clothing while applying wet cloths to as much of your body as
possible, sip water.
A more severe illness, Heat Stroke is caused by high
body temperatures (above 103° F) and includes symptoms such as hot, red, dry or
moist skin, as well as rapid and strong pulse. If you or someone else experience
these symptoms, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY, this is a medical emergency. Move the
person to a cooler environment, reduce their body temperature with cool cloths
or even a bath.
