Hazardous Weather Outlook for the area

The Prince George’s County Office of Emergency Management has provided the following information for our area!

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the area. Tonight, scattered thunderstorms are expected over the waters. A few thunderstorms may produce gusty winds. Additionally, a Flash Flood Watch is in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon.

Low pressure and its associated cold front will trigger showers and thunderstorms through Saturday. Widespread showers and thunderstorms may lead to scattered incidents of flash flooding. A slight risk for excessive rainfall and severe thunderstorms covers the entire area.

There’s a higher than normal uncertainty of how much rain, but the period of greatest impact is Friday afternoon into Saturday. Heavy rainfall may result in rapid rises in streams and creeks, which may quickly result in flooding; especially in low lying and poor drainage areas.

Our primary threats include scattered incidents of flash flooding from rain/torrential downpours, isolated severe thunderstorms, and damaging winds.

Thank you for your continued support. Stay safe and stay dry!
