June 1, 2014 marked
the start of Operation Hire: Maryland's 100 Day Veteran Hiring Challenge. This
initiative keeps with the commitment to support veteran employment and is in
alignment with the O'Malley-Brown Administration's GOAL of full employment for
veterans by the end of 2015. Operation Hire will complement the supportive
services already in place for our Maryland veterans. The campaign is good
for our veterans and families, it is good for our communities and for our
businesses.
Employers can register
to participate by visiting the Maryland Department of Veterans
Affairs (MDVA) website. In addition, employers can access
a number of human resources strategies to boost veteran recruitment.
Veterans who are
seeking employment can also visit the site to see who is participating, as well
as to learn about State resources to assist them in finding employment.
Operation Hire will
run through September 9. Upon conclusion of the campaign, employers
will be recognized for their participation. Special recognition will be
given to the employer with the most hires and the employer with the largest
percentage of hires by workforce size.
Operation Hire, join
the campaign today!
