Cooling Stations are there for you, IF YOU NEED THEM!

This seems like one of the hottest summers ever!  Many of us (including me) do not have air conditioning or have air conditioning and do not wish to face the resulting PEPCO bill.

If you fall in either category -- no air conditioning or no money for PEPCO, keep in mind that there is an alternative -- the Maryland-National Park and Planning Commission offers Cooling Stations for County Residents from  10:00 am - 8:00 pm Monday through Friday, and during normal business hours for each site on Saturday and Sunday. The District 2 Cooling Stations are as follows:

Rollingcrest-Chillum Community Center
North Brentwood Community Center
Langley Park Community Center
Prince George's Plaza Community Center

If you would rather avoid the cooling stations, you can always go shopping, go to the library, visit one of the wonderful museums in the area or check out some of the other attractions in our area.

What's the point?  On these very hot days, seniors and the very young should stay cool to avoid heat strokes, and other issues, e.g., inability to breathe especially if you have asthmas.

Remember to take your medicine, see your doctor regularly, and keep an eye on your neighbor.  We will get through this.
