I have always been a CVS (formerly Peoples Drug Store) customer, and now I am proud to support their stance on cigarettes. I am sure that they gave up some profit with their decision to stop selling cigarettes, but they made and has stuck with it. Now, CVS has taken another bold step to make the statement that cigarettes and other tobacco products are bad for your health. They have chosen to quit the Chamber of Commerce because of its policy on smoking.
Statics, studies, and the CDC have come out with information that cigarette smoking and even second-hand smoke is bad for your health. I don't understand why they are not banned from the marketplace except for the profit margin and the fact that people have the right to kill themselves, create future health problems, , and in general cost his Nation a lot more than what is earned by continuing to support smoking by any means necessary.
CONGRATULATIONS CVS! Maybe the rest of the members of the Chamber of Commerce will one day follow your lead.

It has been two years since I decided to remove myself from the political scene in Mount Rainier, MD, Prince George's County, and the State of Maryland. Holding the lofty position of Mayor was such a great honor, but as the years flew by, I realized that it was time to do something else -- get a life.! I did, and still continue to provide resources to the residents through The Front Porch Ministries (TFPM). Real people pass through The Front Porch Ministries weekly. LIFE is good.
