Governor Martin O'Malley is asking you to join him for an emergency clean-energy mobilization in Annapolis on Wednesday, March 5th. Really! The governor himself is asking you to stand side-by-side with him and publicly declare your support for the Global Warming Solutions Act. It's the moment we've been waiting for in the Maryland climate movement. O'Malley wants to send the strongest possible message to legislators to pass this critically important bill as lawmakers prepare to adjourn in just a few more weeks. Come hear him speak in person and be part of history.

Last week Governor O'Malley came out in "strong, strong support" of the Global Warming Solutions Act, a groundbreaking bill that would commit Maryland to 25% reductions in global warming pollution by 2020 and 90% by 2050. This bill would make Maryland a national leader in the effort to combat global warming while also creating thousands of new jobs for Marylanders in the emerging "green collar" jobs sector.
On January 17th, 400 Marylanders joined together in Annapolis to ask the governor to be a leader on this issue. He got our message and wants to join this incredible movement you started! Now we have the chance to stand next to O'Malley and call on the General Assembly to commit Maryland to tackling global warming. If you're a student, this is also an opportunity to meet with your legislators as part of "Student Lobby Day."
WHAT: Marylanders stand with O'Malley to urge the General Assembly to pass the Global Warming Solutions Act. Hear the governor and other special guests speak in a fun and timely rally. It's going to be great!

It has been two years since I decided to remove myself from the political scene in Mount Rainier, MD, Prince George's County, and the State of Maryland. Holding the lofty position of Mayor was such a great honor, but as the years flew by, I realized that it was time to do something else -- get a life.! I did, and still continue to provide resources to the residents through The Front Porch Ministries (TFPM). Real people pass through The Front Porch Ministries weekly. LIFE is good.

Emergency Clean-Energy Mobilization in Annapolis
Labels:
Announcement 6
As a long-time resident of Mount Rainier and a homeowner, it is important to me that municipal government be inclusive of all of its residents.
It is equally important that information be communicated through all possible channel so that residents can get involved.
It is also important for residents to volunteer and serve on committees, commissions, boards and task forces.
I truly believe that municipal government is the government closes to the people, and as such should be easily accessible.
This BLOG is another effort to reach out to the residents of Mount Rainier.
