June 3, 2013 Man, 70, Dies In Mount Rainier, MD House Fire
These are REAL HEADLINES! YOU may help to save a life by volunteering this Sunday, January 15, 2017 to help distribute and install SMOKE and FIRE DETECTORS
The biggest disaster threats to American families aren’t floods, hurricanes or tornadoes – home fires are.
The American Red Cross responds to a disaster every eight minutes and nearly all of these are home fires. A home fire can strike anywhere, anytime, devastating families. But together, we are changing that. Working with fire departments and other partners, we are visiting homes to install free 10-year smoke alarms and replace smoke alarm batteries.
Volunteers may serve as a smoke alarm installer, educator or documenter for this event. No experience needed; training will be provided at the event as well as a light breakfast and snacks. Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to participate.
