Here's what the County Reps are saying. TAKE HEED --better to be prepared rather than sorry.

Please be advised that there are two significant weather events expected to impact Prince George’s County, beginning tonight and lasting through Monday.

Beginning tonight, heavy precipitation will begin to move through the area.  This precipitation should last through Friday night/Saturday morning and is expected to bring 3-4 inches of rain, possibly more in localized areas.  Local and fresh water flooding is expected.  There may a brief break from precipitation from Saturday afternoon through sometime on Sunday, depending on the track of Hurricane Joaquin.

Hurricane Joaquin has been upgraded to a Category 3 Hurricane and is expected to begin to impact our area sometime on Sunday and lasting through Monday.  The exact track and forecast of the storm is still uncertain, thus we cannot provide any concrete details at this time.  However, localities should anticipate heavy rain in addition to the 3-4 inches expected on Friday and strong and potentially damaging winds.

Prince George’s County will continue to develop our situational awareness tools and will share any updates with the localities, including if and when the County’s Emergency Operations Center is activated. Please contact me or our Director, Mr. Ronnie Gill, if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you,

Henry Cauley
