THE MOUNT RAINIER ARCHITECTURAL SURVEY IS TAKING PLACE NOW!

Today, many if not all of you should have received a flyer on your door talking abut the ongoing assessment of our housing stock.  Some of you will recall that we last had an assessment back in the late 80s or early 90s.

This survey is being done for a number of reasons, and we want you to know that there will be a number of people walking around the neighborhood with their cameras, notepad, iphone and ipads taking pictures and taking notes about YOUR HOME!  Please be cooperative.  Don't hesitate to ask for IDs and/or call the office, if you are not sure.  They should be able to produce a picture ID, tell you about the project, and what they are doing.  So, what is going on?

THE MOUNT RAINIER ARCHITECTURAL SURVEY IS TAKING PLACE NOW!
December 1–December 22, 2014

WHAT IS GOING ON?

At the request of the City of Mount Rainier, the Prince George’s County Planning Department is conducting an architectural survey of your neighborhood. Between October 20 and December 1, 2014, you will see our project team members walking through your neighborhood taking pictures of houses (from the sidewalk and street) and making note of general characteristics such as the height, architectural style, and lot size of buildings and accessory structures, such as garages.

CURIOUS ABOUT WHY WE ARE DOING THIS WORK?

The purpose of this work is to update the inventory of historic properties in the City of Mount Rainier (the last update was completed 25 years ago as part of the historic districting process). It is also part of a larger planning effort to help preserve the historic character of the city and ensure future developmentt is historically and architecturally appropriate and sensitive to your community.
